2016 Nissan Qashqai

Nissan is reportedly finalizing plans to release a new model of
its Qashqai crossover. This is a vehicle that has already sold
millions of units since it was first unveiled in 2007 making it
one of the most sought after crossovers in the market today.

The new 2016 Nissan Qashqai is set to provide more fuel economy
along with improved hi-technology features that will offer an
exciting and comfortable ride.

2016 Nissan Qashqai Exterior

The new 2016 Nissan Qashqai will be based on the Nissan CMF
platform meaning it will have a reduced weight ranging from
2,906 lbs to 3,337 lbs. In terms of its dimensions, the 5-door
crossover will be 172.3-inches long, 71.1-inches wide and
62.8-inches tall. It will have a 104.2-inch wheelbase.

Though the exterior will largely remain unchanged from that of
the predecessor model, it will be sportier with more outlined
body lines.  The front fascia will be sharp, more
aggressive and with a lower ground clearance level.


The Qashqai will feature a V-motion bold chrome grille flanked
by new automatic LED daytime running lights and full LED
headlights with optional xenon headlights for higher trim
levels. The new body is wider and features clean lines and
curves which result in an elegant look.  The rear features
a redesigned bumper and LED taillights in higher trim models.

Overall, the body is designed in a way to increase the vehicles
aerodynamics. The redesigned Qashqai will ride on either
16-inch or 17-inch wheels though buyers can still get one with
19-inch wheels.


2016 Nissan Qashqai Interior

The cabin of the Qashqai will accommodate 5 passengers. The
Qashqai will be availed in 5-trim levels which will be; Tekna,
Accent Premium, Accent, Visia + Safety Pack and Visia. The
interior of the new Nissan features comfortable seats
upholstered in quality cloth. The rear seat has a 60/40
split-fold capability to provide extra cargo capacity.

At the front, there is a new telescopic leather wrapped
steering wheel. The center console will be mounted with a
standard 5-inch and 7-inch touch-screen in higher trims. For
entertainment, the vehicle features the NissanConnect
infotainment system. There is also a movable panoramic glass
roof, dual-zone climate control system and a satellite radio.

The vehicles will also feature modern technology tools such as
Bluetooth connectivity, Smartphone integration and USB ports
among others. Safety features include, traffic sign detection,
blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, rear view
camera, front crash warning, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and
an enhanced package of airbags.


Engine Specs and Performance

The 2016 Nissan Qashqai will be offered in 4 engine options,
two diesel and two gasoline engines. The base model will
features a 1.2 L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine which
produces 116 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque. It accelerates from
0-60 mph in 10.9 seconds and attains a top speed of 115 mph.

The second gasoline engine is a 1.6 L, inline-4 unit which is
capable of producing 161 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque.

Switching gear to the diesel drive-trains, the first diesel
engine is a 1.5 L 4-cylinder dCi engine which produces 110 hp
and 192 lb-ft of torque. It has a top speed of 113 mph and runs
from 0-60 mph in 11.9 seconds.

The second diesel engine is a 1.6 L 4-cylinder dCi unit that
produces 131 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. It achieves 0-60 mph
acceleration in 10.5 seconds with the manual system and 11.1
seconds with the CVT system. All engines are offered with
6-speed manual transmission system with an option for a CVT


Price and release date

According to our sources, Nissan will release the Qasqhai to
dealer showrooms before the end of this year. The automaker has
not released official price details but we believe it won’t
vary much from the current model’s starting MSRP price of $
28,600 and will go up to $ 46,500 depending on the trim level
and options.



The 2016 Nissan Qashqai will face fierce competition from the
upcoming 2017 Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4, KIA Sportage , Skoda Yeti, Chevrolet Trax and
Peugeot 2008.
